Rep. John Lewis (D-GA) created a stir when he said that he would not attend the opening of a civil rights museum in Mississippi because President Donald Trump would be attending. Lewis is very anti-Trump and has refused to accept that Trump is the President, calling him an ‘illegitimate president.’ He previously had also called George W. Bush the same thing.
But former Sheriff David Clarke ripped Lewis’ response and shut down Fox News’ liberal host Eboni Williams when she spoke about Lewis’ actions.
From Biz Pac Review:
“No one cares what John Lewis is doing,” Clarke told Fox News. “He’s been reduced to being a caricature in that he has to pull a political stunt like this. He can’t even honor a civil rights museum opening!”
Clarke, the former sheriff of Milwaukee County in Wisconsin, started off by dismissing Lewis’ status as a civil rights icon, by asking “John who?”
That sarcastic quip infuriated Eboni Williams, a former Democratic strategist who despises Trump.
“John Lewis — he was bloodied on the Selma bridge when he was trying to protest voting rights and organizing sit-ins,” Williams spat back.

Clarke said he applauded what Lewis did in 1965 when he was beaten by Democratic segregationists while marching across the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Alabama.
But he called out his failure since to truly help black Americans.
“John Lewis has become one of the most irrelevant members of Congress,” Clarke said, pointing to the record poverty and crime rates in the black community with Democrats at the helm.
. . . .
Clarke said Lewis’ latest boycott was another self-serving PR ploy to deflect attention from his dismal record. “He has to pull a political stunt like this to get news coverage, that’s how bad this is!” Clarke said.
Clarke isn’t the only black American who has criticized Lewis’ record.
Author Mason Weaver, a former Black Panther, recently blasted Lewis, saying “He’s gotten rich as black America has gotten poorer.”
He also chastised Lewis for joining the Democrats after it was Democratic segregationists who beat him so badly in 1965.
Weaver said the Democratic Party has exploited identity politics to secure the support of the black community, but has done little to improve black poverty or crime.
“Lewis is a civil rights turncoat who collaborated with the Democratic Party to oppress black America,” Weaver said. “After they beat his behind on that bridge, he got up and joined them. He joined the oppressors and became a stooge for them!”
Lewis needs to buy a clue.
You can’t hide your head in the sand or throw a tantrum.
Whether he likes Trump or not, yes, he is the President.
